19th Century Hand Carved Wood Indonesian Puppet
19th Century or Older Hand Carved Wood Indonesian Puppet. Hand carved and hand painted from a single piece of wood. At one time this puppet would have had an arm hinged to it that could be moved up and down with the non-holding hand. While the exact origins remain shrouded in mystery, puppetry in Indonesia it is believed to have existed for over a thousand years using puppets. It measures 24 1/4" tall and approximately 1/2" thick.
