3 1/4" Colorful Chert Stanfield Blade found in Scottland County, Missouri by Rodney Gray. This blade is made from heat treated chert that is scattered in the glacial drift with deposited granite in Northeastern Missouri. It likely has a real name that we don’t know. It’s not Burlington. Raw arrowheads that are made of it are usually a bit rough but heat treated the Indians made nice tools from it. Typically stanfields are not heat treated so this may be made by a later culture although by build it would be considered a stanfield or cobbs by most collectors.
