1870's Scrapbook Loaded with Lithographs/Chromolithographs
1870’s Scrapbook Loaded with Lithographs/Chromolithographs. A very fun scrapbook made and put together circa 1870’s. It appears to have been assembled in or near St Louis, Missouri based on newspaper clippings. The highlight of the book is the huge number of victorian chromolithographs that are in the book. Most are attached to the pages but some are not. They are still vibrant in their color showing off the artistry of the era. There is also a collection of newspaper clippings with several that focused on the assassination of President Gardfield which occured in 1881. There are also newspaper clippings that are in German that would have came from a German Newspaper that was in St Louis in the mid 1800’s. The scrapbook is a hardback and as can be seen in photos in very nice condition for its age. There are 3 or 4 pages that are detached or added in. We maxed out the pictures we could take to try and capture as much of the contents as we could. The creater was careful to fill the pages as they went. There are roughly 18 pages plus loose articles and chromolithograph/lithographs with blank pages past those. A fun to look at piece of historical ephemera.
