Maya Polychrome Ceramic Bowl Circa A.D. 500-900. 2 3/8" Tall x 6" Wide. This style of pottery, often called El Copadoor style, is characterized by its black and red cecorations on a cream or orange background. The designs on the exterior of the bowl appear to be stylized glyphs or motifs, which were common in Maya art. These bowls were often used as drinking vessels, possibly for a cacao beverage, and their detailed designs indicate they were significant artifacts for the social and spiritual elite. A solid bowl with 1 crack that is glued and a spot of damage on the rim.
