Buyer's premium:

This 5 1/4 inch Etley point is an impressive Late Archaic example dating to approximately 4000 to 3000 years BP. It displays the long narrow blade form and expert craftsmanship characteristic of the Etley tradition in the Midwest with strong bifacial percussion thinning and long well controlled flake removals running down both faces. The edges have been refined with pressure flaking to produce a sharp functional cutting edge suitable for use as a knife or spear blade.

Natural patination is visible across the surface with softened flake scars and subtle color variation confirming genuine age and the blade shows clear use wear including micro rounding and smoothing along the edges that indicate real prehistoric use.

This artifact comes from the Koehler familys four generation farm in Lincoln County Missouri discovered by Donald Koehler his father or his grandfather. The farm has produced artifacts for decades and this specimen comes directly from that long established family collection. The material workmanship and regional context all align with known Etley finds from eastern Missouri.

This artifact is an authentic Late Archaic Etley point exhibiting all diagnostic traits of the type including a long narrow blade strong bifacial percussion thinning and refined pressure flaked edges. Based on its form workmanship patination use wear and documented Missouri provenance this is a strong and unquestionably authentic example of the Etley type.
