Buyer's premium:

Group of four prehistoric shell pendants recovered in Fulton County, Illinois, from the late Chuck Asher estate. The lot includes one nearly circular shell ornament measuring approximately 2 inches, retaining most of its original disc form with an ancient edge loss, along with three rectangular pendants ranging from 1 1/4 to 1 3/4 inches, each featuring a drilled suspension hole.

All pieces show clear evidence of prehistoric workmanship, including shaped edges, drilled perforations, and smoothed surfaces consistent with Woodland to Mississippian shell working traditions of the Illinois River Valley. The surfaces display age appropriate wear, including minor pitting, softened edges, and natural weathering typical of long term ground deposition. The nacreous interior of the rounded pendant remains visible, adding visual appeal and confirming its shell origin.

No modern repairs, restorations, or tool marks are present. All pieces are stable, well preserved, and representative of classic ornamental shell artifacts from a culturally significant region.

Based on their form, workmanship, patination, and long established provenance, these are unquestionably authentic prehistoric shell pendants.Provenance: Late Chuck Asher estate; Found in Fulton County, Illinois.
