Hand Carved Jade Amulet in Archaic Style, Late Qing to Republic Period
Hand carved jade amulet showing a stylized animal head withincised details and a central biconical suspension hole.Carved using traditional abrasive drilling methods.
The stone shows natural translucency when backlit with a warminternal glow typical of nephrite and related hardstones.The carving has a strong brow an elongated snout and a flowingcrest. The style reflects the archaic revival taste common inthe late Qing and early Republic periods.
Surface wear and patination are consistent with age andhandling. A well made example of traditional jade carving witha strong sculptural presence.
