32" Pre-Columbian Maya Jadeite Bead Necklace

Comprised of graduated green stone beads ranging from approximately 3/8 in. to 2 in. in length and strung as a necklace measuring approximately 32 in. overall. The assemblage displays varied shades of green from light apple green to deep forest green with natural color variation, mottling, and translucency throughout the strand. The beads have been shaped, drilled, and polished from a dense green stone consistent with jadeite, exhibiting careful lapidary workmanship. Surfaces display strong, well-developed patination with smooth wear and lustrous aging accumulated through long-term use and burial. Natural mineral variation is present across the beads, contributing to the visual character and individuality of the assemblage. Condition is good overall with expected ancient surface abrasions, edge wear, and minor irregularities associated with manufacture, use, and age. The ancient beads have been restrung on modern cordage for preservation and display; the stringing material is not original. The consistent patination, workmanship, and material characteristics support identification as a Pre-Columbian Maya jadeite bead assemblage.
