Punu Standing Female Gabon Statue w/ Woven Basket – Mid Century. This statue is carved from one solid block of wood and features an eleaborate woven basket on its back. It is painted with white, red, and black pigments.Gabon statues are often used in magical ceremonies and kept as prestige objects. They represent female ancestors and are believed to hold spiritual significance. This statue measures 28 3/4" by 17" by 11" approximately. Overall very good condition for its age. The baskets on these are often very tattered up. This one still has a nice basket. General wear from use and time as shown in photos.
