Early 20th Century Mbuya Muyombo Pende Beard Mask – DR Congo. Hand carved wood, hand painted with woven material and vegetal material used to represent hair. Some patina with a light polish to high spots inside the mask from being worn. This is a very old tribal mask from the Congo in Africa. No breaks in the wood although it appears they considered shortening their beard where a cut was started. It measures 14 1/2" tall
