Strand Necklace of Neolithic Quartz Barrel Beads found in North Africa
Strand Necklace of Neolithic Quartz Barrel Beads. Beads on this necklace are all fine examples of the ancient beads made in North Africa during the Neolithic Period. Most are made of heat treated ferruginous quartz. Unlike many beads made in cultures around the world throughout history these would have required much more effort in their production with primitive tools. See the next lot for an example of just how much work they put in to them. Beads on this strand measure 1/2" to 3/4"
