6 3/4" Pre-Columbian Nasca Textile Band 200 BCE to 600 CE
6 3/4" Pre-Columbian Nasca Textile Band. Frame is 5" x 11". Embroidery with Geometric Patterns Made by the Nasca 200 BCE to 600 CE. Colorful example of the traditional textiles made by the Nasca people. Made of camelid fibre and cotton. Nicely framed long ago. The Nazca people, who lived on the southern coast of present-day Peru, were active in creating textiles from around 200 BCE to 600 CE. Their textiles are renowned for their intricate designs and vibrant colors, often depicting naturalistic and stylized motifs of people, animals, and plants. From the Chuck and Eileen Hoffman Collection. In the 1980’s Chuck and his wife served as teachers in Lima Peru. They bought dolls from the locals which were made of the cloth. Collectors of fabric they recovered interesting pieces of the mummy cloth and embroideries from the dolls and framed them for display and preservation.
