Proto-Historic Peruvian Stone Animal Figure Ram - found in Peru
Proto-Historic Peruvian Stone Animal Figure Ram – found in Peru. This same material was used for thousands of years before the Spanish came to Peru by the natives to make animal and other types of charms. This piece has good patination. It was likely made between the 1500’s to 1800’s. Found in Peru. Sheep were introduced in the 1500’s by the Spanish. The bottom on these figures are often rounded. As shown in photos a former owner abraided the bottom flat for display purposes. Measures 1 3/4" by 1 1/2" and is 1/2" thick.
