Tiwanaku Culture Textile from the Andes - 600 to 1000 AD
Tiwanaku culture, which thrived from around 600 to 1000 AD. This civilization was one of the most significant Andean cultures and had a major influence on the region, extending into present-day Peru and Chile. From the Chuck and Eileen Hoffman Collection. In the 1980’s Chuck and his wife served as teachers in Lima Peru. They bought dolls from the locals which were made of the cloth. Collectors of fabric they recovered interesting pieces of the mummy cloth and embroideries from the dolls and framed them for display and preservation. Frame measures 14 1/4" by 14 3/4"
