Original 1850 Utagawa Kuniyoshi Japanese Woodblock Print - Edo Period
Utagawa Kuniyoshi (1798-1861) was a prominent Japanese woodblock print artist and a member of the Utagawa school. He is known for his diverse range of subjects, including landscapes, beautiful women (bijin-ga), kabuki actors, cats, and mythical animals. Kuniyoshi is particularly famous for his depictions of legendary samurai heroes and his innovative use of Western techniques in his artwork. Board has Y Tsuruki certification stamp on it. Colors are still nice on this piece. Does have a little discoloration on the paper from handling. It measures 13 1/4" by 9 1/8" approximately.
