Extinct Pleistocene Cave Bear Tooth recovered from the Carpath Mountains in Romania. Ursus spelaeus, commonly known as the cave bear, is a prehistoric species of bear that lived in Europe and Asia during the Pleistocene epoch. They became extinct about 24,000 years ago during the Last Glacial Maximum. Much larger than the bears we have today the males of the species got upwards of 1000 pounds. This specimen is in very nice condition as shown in photos and measures approximately 1 1/4" long by 1 1/8" tall and 3/4" wide at the crown.
