1841 Letters and Notes on the Manners, Customs, and Condition of the North American Indians Volume 1 by George Catlin. This work contains a vast wealth of material gathered during Catlin’s travels among various Native American tribes. The book includes detailed observations, illustrations, and engravings that provide a unique insight into the lives and cultures of North American Indians during that period. A very old and well used hardback book that was at one time a library book. This volume contains 31 letters and several hundred illustrations based on Catlin’s observations and sketches during his travels among various Native American tribes from 1832 to 1839. Many of the lithograph illustrations are seperated sitting loose throughout the book. There may be some missing. Cover has a lot of wear and page ends are tattered. A very rare and hard to find book that gives us a look at Native American life in the early 19th Century. Overall condition is not good as shown in photos.
