Lot 324:
Indo-PERSIAN 18th - 19th Century Intricately Engraved Brass Bird Sculpture
Indo-PERSIAN 18th – 19th Century Intricately Engraved Brass Bird Sculpture. Originally 2 copper pins held the head in place that were smashed from the outside and inside securing the head. Although still present they don’t hold it in place very well now. In more recent times signs of a soder can be seen where the head seats on the body. We got the pins to hold the head on for photographs but a more permanent solution will have to be found by the winning bidder on this item. There wasn’t another like this on the web to reference but the artistry involved suggests it was made somewhere in India or perhaps Turkey (ottoman empire). It measures 14 1/2" long by 12 1/2" tall approximately.
