18th to 19th Century Ottoman Empire Gun Powder Flask
18th to 19th Century Ottoman Empire Gun Powder Flask. An interesting innovation used in old Persia to contain gun powder. It is a metal flask covered in hand embossed leather. The leather would have served to avoid creating a spark on the surface where it covers the metal. Horns used in other parts of the world served the same function. It measures 7" long counting the spout. 5 1/2" diameter on the main body and 3 3/4" tall approximately.
