Vintage - The Great Wave Off Kanagawa - Mount Fuji - Vintage Japanese Woodblock Print Print
Vintage – The Great Wave Off Kanagawa – Mount Fuji – Vintage Japanese Woodblock Print Print. The Great Wave off Kanagawa, created by the Japanese ukiyo-e artist Katsushika Hokusai, is arguably one of the most famous and recognizable woodblock prints in the world. It was published sometime between 1829 and 1833 as the first print in Hokusai’s series "Thirty-Six Views of Mount Fuji". Its popularity far outweighed the number of prints that Katsushika created of this masterpiece. This is a later high quality print on a thicker board than the traditional woodblock prints were created on in the early to mid 1800’s. Very nice condition for its age this piece is deserving of a frame. Measures 14 3/4" by 10" We do have an original early print by Katsushika Hokusai coming on the next sale so keep an eye on our woodblock prints from the Chuck and Eileen Hoffman Collection.
