2 Nasca Ornithomorphic Embroideries Made by the Nasca 200 BCE to 600 CE. Colorful examples of the traditional textiles made by the Nasca people from the Andes in Peru. They are made of camelid fibre and cotton. Similar examples are displayed online in the Museum of Genoa, Italy. Nicely framed long ago both are in excellent condition. They measure 7" to 7 1/2" tall and approximately 5" wide. Frame measures 18" by 15". The Nazca people, who lived on the southern coast of present-day Peru, were active in creating textiles from around 200 BCE to 600 CE. Their textiles are renowned for their intricate designs and vibrant colors, often depicting naturalistic and stylized motifs of people, animals, and plants. From the Chuck and Eileen Hoffman Collection. In the 1980’s Chuck and his wife served as teachers in Lima Peru. They bought dolls from the locals which were made of the cloth. Collectors of fabric they recovered insteresting pieces of the mummy cloth and embroideries from the dolls and framed them for display and preservation.
