Akan Ashanti Bronze Gold Weight from Ghana, Africa. Rare African Metal Sculpture / Figurine. Man with Digging Tools Gold Weight. Akan Ashanti gold weights, also known as mrammou or abrammuo, were primarily produced between the 14th and 19th centuries. These weights were made using the lost wax casting technique and were used to measure gold dust, which was the currency of the region at that time. This Gold Weight measures 2 3/8" Height approximately.
