Pre-Columbian Stone Toucan found in Central America - Peru
Pre-Columbian Stone Toucan found in Central America – Peru. An interesting piece this bird charm with its large eyes and pronounced bill likely represents one of the four Toucan Species found in Peru – Toco Toucan (Ramphastos toco), Hooded Mountain-Toucan (Andigena nigrirostris), Black-billed Mountain Toucan (Andigena nigrirostris) or the Andean Toucan (Aulacorhynchus albivitta). It is made of a light brown stone and exhibits hand carving on the surface. There is a small hole drilled under the tail with no other hole to be found. From the Chuck and Eileen Hoffman Collection. Measures 1 3/8" long
