Pre-Columbian Olmec Anthropomorphic Zoomorphic Duck Effigy Xochipala Phase
The hands are cuffed with an Olmec skyband glyph and the cutout of the thighs, calf, and heel represent the "Torch" Glyph. This supernatural effigy is highly unusual and represents the ultimate in Olmec craftmanship. The design is possibly unique and could represent the soul of the Olmec using this form to enter the cosmic realm in the supernatural state, 800-500BC. Ex collection of H Thorn III, Fayettville ark, Deceased. Measures 11 inches. Has some cracks filled otherwise intact. Biopolymer root marks have eaten into the vessel and some are mineralized and some have sloughed off. A highly collectable artifact. Ex Harve and Tony Thorn Collection
