6" Mezcala Jade Stone Effigy - 300 BC Pre-Columbian
Mezcala Stone Effigies were made from Ax or Hacha preforms which is correct for M6 to M10 variety. This piece exhibits correct manufacture, excellent patination, differential erosion and mineralized biopolymer root marks. This is a "No-Brainer" good old artifact. Ex H. Thorn III Collection Fayettville, AR. Measures approximately 6 inches. There are a lot of reproduction Mezcala figures of extreme size over 10 inches and with their head outside the plane of the ax preform floating around in the artifact world that are made from materials not found inside the zone of the Mezcala Phase of People. This is one of the ancient ones that modern stone artisans try and mimic in their work.
