5-25 Million Year Old Sinomastodon Tooth found in Gansu Province, China (Late Miocene)
5-25 Million Year Old Sinomastodon Tooth found in Gansu Province, China. An early ancestor to the Mastadon the Sinomastadon has teeth that are simlar to those of the late pleistocene with noticable differences. Sinomastodon is from the genus of gomphotheres, which were a group of proboscideans (relatives of modern elephants) with circular upper tusks. This specimen is petrified (as stone). A nice example of the type in good condition for its age. Older specimens of elephant and Mastadons like this are quite rare in comparison to the ones we see coming from the late pleistocene. This tooth measures 9 1/4" by 4 1/2" by 3"
Condition: Ancient Authentic
