Lot 335:
71" Mid Century Iron Wood Congo Ceremonial Stabbing Spear - Africa
Mid Century Iron Wood Ceremonial Stabbing Spear – West Central Africa. Extremely strong, deadly wood spear in pristine condition. We had trouble finding another one like this on the web. Most spears have steel tips. This one is solid wood made from the same piece. The tip of the spear is heavily grooved on one side which likely would have increased the amount of blood that came out upon stabbing its target. Likely from the Kamba, Maasi or Ujiji tribes. Kuba style spear made from one solid piece of Ironwood. It is sometimes difficult to represent long pieces with photos. This is a very fine made piece with no damage from one of the hardest woods on the planet. The tip is extremely sharp for wood and no doubt tough enough to take down a lion. It measures approximately 71" in length.
Condition: Ancient Authentic
