Antique Venetian Millefiori African Trade Beads - Made in Western Europe 1825-1910
Antique Venetian Millefiori African Trade Beads – 1825-1910 Made in Western Europe. Very colorful strand of beads recovered from Africa. Originally made in Italy Millefiori Beads were used as currency to trade and exchange for goods in Africa during the colonial period. Their intricate designs, created over a period of 700 years, make them timeless treasures. Millefiori Beads were crafted using a delicate process, resulting in beautiful patterns resembling a thousand flowers. This strand has a nice diversity of Millefiori Beads. These beads were snapped off when they were made so lengths vary. From manufacture and use as currency some beads will have a chip or two on their ends but overall this group is very nice as shown in photos. Sizes vary from around 5/8" to 1 7/8". Strand is over 30".
