Native American Hand Made Lenape Reed Floor Mat made by Nora Thompson Dean. Nora Thompson Dean was the last fluent speaker of the Lenape Language. Born in 1907 in Bartlesville, Oklahoma, Nora Thompson Dean was a descendant of the Lenape people. The Lenape’s historical territory included New Jersey, northern Delaware, and eastern Pennsylvania. Her ancestors later migrated to Oklahoma during the 1700s. Nora was a traditionalist and made this floor mat from native reeds. It was given to Chief Bill Thompson of the Eastern Lenape Nation in 1960. The mat has been nicely framed, displays nicely and is very well preserved. The frame measures 38" by 20". Floor mat measures 32 1/2" by 14 1/4" Winning bidder let us know if you dont want the frame. Its a nice frame but not the easiest thing to ship intact.
