Pre-Columbian Aztec Incised Redware Rattle Censer - Incense Burner 1300 to 1500 CE
Pre-Columbian Aztec Incised Redware Rattle Censer – Incense Burner 1300 to 1500 CE. A redware censor comprised of an open work olla with a flared rim upon a pair of rounded rattle legs at one end and a long handle that coils upward into the form of a bird head. This was a pattern used by Aztecs for this style of pottery item. There have been a couple others with similar features found that were likely made by the same artisan in the distant past. Very good condition for its age with excellent patination. Guaranteed for thermoluminescence dating.
