Buyer's premium:

Pre-Columbian Lambayeque Culture Pottery Vessel 750 to 1375 CE. Very nice solid pot with minor faults. Appears to be ancient restoration (could be patina but looks like a form of ancient concrete used to seal or seat a crack) at the base of the Lords figure at the top of the pot as well as a separation on the handle next to one of the spouts that has been sealed down with glue. Past that excellent condition for its age. Lord Naylamp is a legendary figure deeply rooted in the history and culture of the Lambayeque region in Peru. According to the legend, which was first recorded in the 16th century by Spanish chronicler Miguel Cabello de Balboa, Naylamp arrived by sea on a balsa raft to the shores of the Lambayeque Region. He is credited with founding the first dynasty of prehistoric kings in the La Leche and Lambayeque valleys. Exhibits excellent patination and correct manufacture for its era. This vessel measures 11" tall and 9" wide. Ex Jim Butler Collection Guaranteed for thermoluminescence dating.
