Indo-Persian Silver Amulet Case – Used for Carrying Magical Amulets for defense and protection. The basmala/bismillah (the phrase “In the name of Allah”) was often inscribed on the lid in a way that formed a pseudo-magic square. Still intact this amulet box was well used. It has writing etched on the back that isn’t readable by us. May be Arabic. Bejeweled with glass beads and settings as is often seen in older jewelry from Saudi Arabia to India. The ends at the top are faceted by cordage with one end that opens but fits quite snug. A series of 8 bells are along the bottom of the box which do a fair amount of clanging when moved. The outside of the box has some use wear which amounts to denting, patina, use wear as shown in photos. There are no charms or amulets in the box. It measures 4 3/16" by 4 1/2" by 3/4" approximately. Weighs 125 grams or 4 3/8 ounces.
