Ceremonial KALASH – Kupas & Shushut headdress. Traditional headdress worn by women from the Chitral area in Northwest Pakistan. The kupas is worn over the shushut during ceremonial occasions. Both pieces go together. Rare to find both pieces that make up the set. All women’s clothing in the Kalash region is crafted by the women themselves, from weaving the wool and cotton to dyeing, embroidery, and decoration using intricate beadwork, cowry shells, glass beads, and metal embellishments. Needless to say there is considerable time and artistry that goes in to making these items. The Kalash measures 28" and the Shushut measures 27" on the back with circumference of approx 16" on the head band. Lightly or never worn. This set doesn’t show signs of wear and is in excellent condition.
