4 1/8" Squared Quartzite Bannerstone Preform or Grinding Stone
Squared Quartzite Bannerstone Preform or Grinding Stone. All edges on this piece are pecked. Given the material and shape it is very likely a stone that was started with intention of making a banner stone. May also have been used as a grinding stone. If does fit nicely in hand. Nice example of early manufacture of a hard stone artifact.
