19th to Early 20th Century Urhobo Shaman Idol Hand Carved Wood from the NW of the Niger River Delta in Africa. The Urhobo form the main ethnic group in Delta State among the 36 states of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Their large sculptures represent the spirits of Nature, edjo, or ancestors of the clan that they would make sacrifices to. Wood is in excellent condition on this piece. It measures 19" tall.
