RARE! 15th-19th Century Bell Face Gong Lower Niger Bronze of Southern Nigeria
RARE! 15th-19th Century Gong Lower Niger Bronze of Southern Nigeria. Outstanding condition for its age with exception of not having the metal ball inside that would have made it sound. In researching this bell we found a handful similar on the web. Their dates varied on age or considered age. There was one in a museum not nearly as nice as this one that they erred on the side of caution saying 15th to 19 Century. They are usually tied to the Nupe Tribe of Southern Nigeria by scholars and collectors. This Bronze Gong measures 12 3/8" tall and 5 1/4" Diameter at the base.
