21 1/2" Igorot Lute from the Bontoc Province, Philippines. The Igorot peoples are Austronesians. They were known in earlier days for their wars and practice of headhunting which may explain why we can’t find one of these for sale on the web. Until recent years they maintained their traditional ways of life going back centuries. This is an awesome piece, hand crafted from one solid piece of wood. It comes with a display stand that it fits on nicely. As for its age that would take carbon testing. Those people have avoided or fought to the death against outsiders for centuries.
