High End Native American Artifact Auction
Lot 103:
4 3/4" Primitive Native South American Tattoo Bottle and Needle
4 3/4" Primitive Native South American Tattoo Bottle and Needle. This appears to be a tattoo bottle that once contained a dye. This Bottle and needle likely were acquired from one of the tribes in South America where they continue to use primitive tools and techniques for tattooing. The bottle has several small holes scattered around the bottom of the pottery bottle where the needle was inserted to dip just the end of the needle in ink, poison or whatever it was they were using this bottle for. (some things are hard to describe.) The needle appears to be a very hard wood and has a stone bead (green like jade) that is slid to the top for easier handling. If we are incorrect on what this is feel free to message us. This is the only one of these we have seen. Its old…just not sure how far back in history or prehistory it goes.
