5 5/8" Outstanding Young Mammoth Tooth (Still forming at death) found in N Missouri
5 5/8" Outstanding Juvenile Mammoth Tooth that was still forming when the young mammoth died. Throughout their life Mammoth would wear their teeth out with new ones growing in behind ones in use. When one was ejected another would slide forth in the jaw. By its size this is likely an adolescent or younger mammoth that would have died leaving this tooth behind. These are much rarer to find than the formed teeth and this one is about as perfect as these can be found. Nicely treated and cared for after found this tooth still shows off mineral deposits that were found on the tooth. Found in Northern Missouri by Jeff Gower in 2012.
