Elaborate High Quality Sterling950 Victorian Compact Hand Mirror Engraved by FR. This piece is so nice it looks as new. The purity of the silver used in it is 95% which was only done on items of importance in the 19th Century. Where the piece is etched it glimmers as if inlaid with gold but that evidently is just how silver done in that fashion appears. The mechanisms that open the container and the one inside that exposes a mirror function perfectly. We usually don’t grade silver items but have to give this one a 10 out of 10 because we just don’t see ornate silver pieces this old in this nice of condition. Likely it was a powder box w/ mirror but has no residue to validate that idea. Other than the Engraved artist signature there is no maker mark on this piece. It does have the Sterling950 Stamp as shown in the photos. It weighs 3 3/8 ounces or 95 grams. Measures 3" Diameter
