4 1/4" Modern Banded Slate Birdstone w/ COA. Attractive modern art piece with a nice finish. Comes with a Jackson paper saying it is authentic. The finish doesn’t look like one of the late Billy Howlen who made them for decades in Pike County, Illinois mid to late century but it could have been one of his that was enhanced with a modern polishing wheel. We will have some of his work in upcoming sales. This area has been a mecca of hardstone makers since the early 1900’s. This author has been fortunate enough to have known many of the best and handled some of their fine art works.
