8 1/2" Multifunctional Camp Stone (Friction Stone, Nutting Stone and Beater)
8 1/2" Multifunctional Camp Stone (Friction Stone, Nutting Stone and Beater). This is a very cool camp rock. Both ends have heavy wear from being used as a pounder and it has the wallered out hole on one side that would have been used for friction fire starting or cracking nuts. It is an outstanding example of a multiuse tool used by ancient man in North America. It appears to be made of quartzite. Most likely found in Illinois from the late Eldon Launer Collection.
