Lot 370:
2 1/8" Serpent Attacking a Person Pre-Columbian Mayan Eccentric
This looks like the head of a serpent hovering over a man lying on the ground or if you look another way it could be someone riding in a canoe. Or perhaps the human figure that is laying down is leaving their body and the figure on top is his spirit leaving its body. Some Mayan Flint Eccentrics are fairly easy to identify what the maker intended for them to represent. They are very fun to look at and use your imagination. We all enjoy sitting around putting our two cents worth in on what they are but some may forever be a mystery. If you think you think you see something different in the design you may be right. We all often are guessing on what these mysteries of a by gone era meant. From the Dave Wally Personal Collection. Dave has been one of the foremost experts on stone and ancient pottery from South and Central America for decades.
