Vintage Borneo Hand Forged Man Dau Head Hunters Sword 27 1/2". Not sure how far back this one goes. The custom of gathering heads has largely been abandoned in recent years in Borneo although there are still isolated reports of beheadings in the Jungles. Man Dau swords generally served as machetes for clearing vegetation and usually they are single edged. This one is double edged and more ornate. Perhaps used in ceremonies. It is inlaid with mother of pearl on the sheath and handle but some pieces are missing as shown in photos. Also there is a section of wood missing at the top of the sheath as shown in photos. The handle is wood with wrapped cordage on the handle. This is still a very functional and sharp sword.
