5 7/8" Syro-Hittite Ancient Terracotta Artemis Idol or Figurine
Ancient Near East, Syria, Syro-Hittite Idol 2000 to 2700 Years Old. An extremely fine Syro Hittite pillar idol or figurine with large eyes and a bird like face. This figure has additional features that make it stand out. This figurine is wearing a jeweled necklace, earrings, a fancy hat or crown and markings down the front leggings suggesting adornment with elaborate clothing. Syro Hittite pillar figurines are a form of statuary made in tribute to these ancient cultures gods and goddesses. These figurines are found throughout the region, yet few are of this high quality. This piece like all pottery we sell is guaranteed against TL testing for the period that it is linked to. It measures 5 7/8" Tall
