3 1/2" Double Groove Axe found in SE Iowa
3 1/2" Double Groove Axe found in SE Iowa. This is an interesting manufacture failure by the Indians. They started to groove it in one location then switched making a second groove. The bit is still chipped out and was never refined. At first glance it looks like a broken axe, but is in actuality an unfinished piece that nicely shows off an axe at a near finished stage of manufacture. Ex Tom Ryan Collection.
