13 Pound Grooved Granite Hammer found in SE Iowa
13 Pound Grooved Granite Hammer. Often these are called boat anchors but may have been used as part of a snare trap for small game. This one does have a flat end on the hammer head that is worked down so it may very well have been used as a hammer of sorts. The hafting of such a wide groove and heavy implement is hard to imagine. Weighs over 13 pounds.
