Quartzite Hourglass Bannerstone made by Steve Lemons
Modern Made Hourglass Bannerstone made by Steve Lemons in the late 2000’s. Very attractive orange quartzite. This is a very good example of his work. We come across these on occasion in our area in folks collections. Sometimes they know sometimes they dont. His work is often ran on auctions and displayed at shows by artifakers and proud collectors who just admire his work. Steve has made thousands of bannerstones, discoidals, axes and other hardstone items using natural stone from across the US. Steve is a second generation hardstone maker having learned from the best…Billy Guthrie, His Father Donnie, Jean Johns, Donnie Johns, and his Uncle Henry all of Pike County, IL. He follows a line of artists going back to at least the 1950’s. Measures 2 1/2" by 2 3/8"
