Modern Petrified Coral Bannerstone Made by Steve Lemons in the late 2000’s. The coral was found in a small stream in NE Missouri across the river from Quincy, IL. Far from his best work it was still an achievement to make something from the coral. During manufacture a piece of the Rim broke. Steve has made thousands of bannerstones, discoidals, axes and other hardstone items using natural stone from across the US. Steve is a second generation hardstone maker having learned from the best…Billy Guthrie, His Father Donnie, Jean Johns, Donnie Johns, and his Uncle Henry all of Pike County, IL. He follows a line of artists going back to at least the 1950’s.
Condition: Reproduction made of real stone. Circa 2009
