1917 St Mihiel France 37MM Trench Art Shell Casing. This shell commemorates St Mihiel. The Battle of Saint-Mihiel was a major World War I battle fought from 12–15 September 1918, involving the American Expeditionary Forces (AEF) and 110,000 French troops under the command of General John J. Pershing of the United States against German positions. It reads " ST MIHIEL DE FRANCE" with flower motifs imprinted all around the shell. The top of the shell is crown cut. The base of the shell reads 37-85 PDPs 63 1 17 and it measures 3 7/8" Tall.
